Attitude!

Boy did I have an attitude last night!  I was fine up until it was time for our workout.  It was Plyo-X night.  Plyo is evil and I hate it!  It's Anthony's absolute favorite while it's my least favorite.  I just plain didn't want to do it.  I suggested trying Cardio X but Anthony was reluctant.  He wanted his Plyo.

I was forced to endure the entire demonic workout pretty much by myself due to an injured calf Anthony is nursing.  Ummm, yeah, that was irritating... not the calf, just the fact that I had to do it by myself.  I really should have just done the cardio no matter what he said.  I knew he wouldn't be able to the Plyo, it's all about jumping.  Injured calf... HELLO!  No jumping!!

Just a few minutes in, Anthony could see my irritation and suggested that I needed to find my Chi.  He's currently reading a book called Chi Running which explains all about having your chi in check and such.  Yada, yada, yada.  Can you imagine the surge of anger I felt as he is suggesting that I find my chi?  MAYBE IT'S ON VACATION, NOW HUSH!  I didn't say that, I just really wanted to.  Find my chi... pssshhhh!

I think it's this darn weather.  No it's not raining, hailing, snowing, foggy, or even windy.  The problem?  It's so darn sunny!

That's right, I've got a confession.  I do NOT love summer.  Sure, I love the activities, the laughter, the kids playing outdoors, the food (Summer means lots of yummy fruits and veggies in season, right?), the bbq's, the get-togethers and even the busy-ness.  **Would the real word be business?  Because I thought about putting that but then I thought you would read it as BIZ-ness.**

But that darn SUN!  It makes it so dang HOT!  Given the choice between hot or cold, I will take cold every time.  Anyone that knows me well knows that I don't do heat.  I HATE HEAT!!!!!  Hibernation for me comes during the summer time.  Or it would, if it would just slow down.  Summer is crazy around these here parts.  I'm sure that's normal for just about everyone.  Just venting for a moment.  Anyone else have the I'm-a-bear-in-the-heat syndrome?  Let's call it an allergy.

Oh, and speaking of attitude, C is really beginning to have one as well.  Maybe he's allergic as well.  He's been walking around with his little 3-year-old attitude saying, "Kill you!" in a not so funny tone.  What do I do about that?  Actually, last night we put soap in his mouth.  In all fairness, we warned him several times and he kept saying it.  Probably just to see if we really meant what we said.  So, I grabbed the baby wash and Anthony pumped a small amount into his mouth (which he willingly held open).  Let's just say I don't think he'll be so willing the next time.  And yes, we rinsed it out right away.

He's also been telling everyone to "Be a man!"  He picked that up from "Follow That Bird".  Have you seen that one?  If not, you really should.  It's a Sesame Street movie.  One of my favorites from my childhood.  Still love it.  Total nerd, I know.

Anyway, it started out with him telling H to "be a man" as they layed in their beds one night.  Now, he says it to anyone that's annoying him in any way.  At least he's polite about it.  "Please stop it, Mom.  Be a man!"

When I retort with, "YOU be a man," he always says, "No, I can't. I'm a boy."

Oh how I love that little boy.  He's great!

WELL, FINE THEN!!

A dead even tie... it's a conspiracy!  Well, since the recipe poll came out even, I guess I have no other choice but to give you BOTH recipes.

You win!

So, later today, I will post them.  Pics and all.  Not that you really need pics because we all know what taco seasoning and ranch dressing look like but I just want to be cool and post pics, okie dokie?

By the way, the title of this post is kind of an inside joke.  I really should write it here and let you read about it.  Maybe one of these days.  So funny!  Or maybe it's just one of those "had to be there" things.

Oh, and have I mentioned that my girls have started their dance classes?  No, I haven't... but now you know.  Dang it!  That reminds me, I still need to blog the lemonade stand.  I'm so behind.

But that's only partly true... K and A have started, H starts tonight.  I have no doubt that she'll love it just as the other two have so far.  I know that one of my best pals from Jr. High has a daughter (on a competition team) that attends at that particular studio as well but I haven't bumped into her yet.  Where are you Hydie?  (Ok, it's really Heidi but she started spelling it Hydie way back when and pronouncing it a bit different, too.)  Just remember that if I run into you, and I haven't seen you for quite some time, my face is bound to turn beet red as soon as we bump into each other.  I don't know why, it just happens.  My face turns red quite often... it's one of my weak points.  How do I stop it?  I'm such a nerd!

Wow, this post has really gone off into left field.  Sorry about that.  I have lots of posts coming... WATCH OUT!!

Look what I got the other day...

Do you know what this means?

Neither do I but I think it means good luck is headed my way.  I could sure use some good luck about now.

Rain

It probably wouldn't surprise you if I said something like, "I love the smell of rain!"  But I'm not going to say that.

Just about everyone I know loves the smell of rain.  Is there anyone out there that doesn't?

Me!  I'm guilty, I admit it.  I can't stand the smell of rain.  Call me a weirdie, I can handle it.

Actually, there was a point in my life that I didn't even know that rain had a scent.  People would always rant and rave about how much they love the smell of rain and I just didn't get it.

It smells?  Hmmm, my sniffer must be turned off.

Then one day, either in 7th or 9th grade (I forget which but I KNOW it wasn't 8th grade), I walked into the science lab at school fully aware of what was ahead of me.  It was worm dissection day.  UGH!  I was definitely not looking forward to such a disgusting massacre.

But on this day, I walked in the lab and was overwhelmed by the smell!  Never had I smelled a stench like that, ever!  It had to be the dead worms.  GROSS!

So, I gagged the whole time I was tearing my specimen open.

A few days later, it rained.  The smell was back!

And that's what rain smells like to me... dead worms with guts hanging out.  EW!  I've smelled it for the past two days now and while I actually do love the rain itself, I'm ready for the smell to leave.

Help!

Update:  Feeling a little sheepish... Baaaaa!  I think I fixed it.

I've always been completely awesome in the realm of computer technicalities.  Ask me anything, I know the answer...

Ok, that was completely facetious!!

I need some serious help here.  Is it just my computer or is all my sidebar stuff playing hide and seek.  It's showing up on the bottom for me and I don't understand it.

When I go to the "design" page it is correct but the blog itself is all messed up.

HELP!!

Burst My Bubble

You know the 'bubble' you have?  The one that dictates how close someone can get to you without you becoming uncomfortable.  And it completely depends on who that someone is and how comfortable you are with that person.

Here's an example.  I know certain people that no matter what your body language says, they insist on being three inches from your face when they talk to you.  I can back away from them multiple times and no matter what, when I take a step back to make myself feel more comfortable, they step forward to ensure they are no further than three inches from my face.  They are in my bubble!  GET OUT OF MY BUBBLE!!

It seems that most people are not that comfortable with the three inch distance, thank goodness!  I happen to have a pretty large bubble.  Of course it depends on how well I know someone and how I feel about someone but for the most part, it's pretty large.   I'm not sure why but I think it stems back to being teased and made fun of as a child.  Seeing me up close was not what I wanted anyone to do.  In fact, I would hide my face and stand far away from people when they talked to me.  Eye contact was also hard.

Many times, I think your bubble size is determined by how you are raised.  Were there lots of "I love yous", hugs, kisses, physical touch in general?  If so, I would guess that you would have a smaller bubble than I do.  However, I had all of the above as a child and still have a large bubble.  This is why I think it stems back to the relentless teasing.  I was no longer comfortable in my own skin.  No matter what my mom said, the words of my peers always rang louder and more true.  It's kind of sad.

As a result, I have never been a touchy-feely person.  I like to hold hands with Anthony and snuggle with him but it took a while to get to that point.  And I love hugging my kids and there are lots of "I love yous" passed around.

I was never one of those girls in high school that had to hug all my friends between each class.  I always thought, what's the point?  You're going to see each other in 45 minutes again.  I thought it was weird.

It's not that I mind a hug every now and again.  Heck, if I haven't seen you in a while and I was/am close to you at some point, I'd love a good ol' fashioned hug!

Even so, I'm still a little uncomfortable when people look in my direction for longer than a few seconds at a time.  Anthony does this and it drives me nuts!  What are you looking at?  It's always "nothing" but I'm sure it's something.  And my mom too.  She's a starer.  LOVE YOU, MOM!!

So anyway, here I am, little ol' me with a complex that I'm pretty sure must be hereditary because even with all the hugging, kissing and words of appraisal, K is also a large bubble person, even without all the relentless teasing.

H, however, is a bubble popper!!  Since I need to update my sidebar, those of you who don't know, she's my 5-year-old.  Such a snuggle bunny!  That girl is constantly in my face with her bubble popping hugs and kisses.  ALWAYS!  Love her to death but sometimes I just want my bubble back!  Can I have my bubble back, please?

It's obvious that H has no bubble, at all.  NONE!  This scares me for the future... she won't be allowed to date until she's 27.  We've got to work on this bubble issue until then.

She's also a starer and was staring at me just the other day about 3 inches from my face.  After careful observance, she informed me (after I had just been laughing at something C had done) that I am growing fangs!  And no, she didn't mean the teeth that are already in.  She was talking about up in my gums.  Apparently there are fangs growing in.  Hmmm, who knew.

Little H is constantly bursting bubbles in our family.  K's and my large ones along with everyone else's average ones.  She even hugs strangers.  But who would she be without her bubble bursting capabilities?  Sometimes while standing in a grocery check-out line, she'll turn to me and ask if she can hug the lady behind us.

Ummm, NO!  You may not!  Nice try... we don't know that lady.

Scary?  I think so!

So, tell me about your bubbles...

It's my 100th post!

...and I have nothing cool to do or say so I'm just going to post this "25 Random Things" I did on facebook about 2 years ago because I was tagged 5 times with it.  I'm sure some of you read it there but if you're not my facebook friend, you can get to know me a little better.  Are you ready?  Just a warning... I am a HUGE geek!

1-I don't like the smell of rain.

2-I can't eat plain M&M's unless I microwave them first.

3-I've only kissed 2 guys.

4-My friend Tammy and I once sang to a guy in 5th (or maybe it was 6th) grade. We sang a New Kids On The Block song as we followed him home from school. I believe it was "I'll be Lovin' You Forever". Aren't we cool?

5-I sometimes wish I looked like somebody else. Ok, not sometimes, MOST of the time.

6-I hate my teeth and wish I would have got braces as a young teen. Had the chance but the ortho said it was optional. I opted NOT to do it. Silly me!

7-Spending money is really hard for me. Sometimes I don't even buy necessities because I'm so worried about being able to pay bills. I would almost rather go without food than not be able to pay the bills.

8-I run like a fairy. At least that's what I'm told. I must look pretty ridiculous but I hate running anyway. I don't mind that I run like a girl.

9-I can't wink! I try really hard but just end up looking ridiculous in the process. I didn't stand in the winking line in heaven.

10-I used to throw fits, literally, at the prospect of shots or having my blood drawn or even just going to the doctor. My mom had to bribe me with ice cream after even into my teens (even LATE teens).  I usually never got the ice cream... But now, 5 kids later...I'm not too scared of anything anymore.

11-I am a people pleaser. I try not to hurt anyone's feelings even if it means that I have to do something that I really don't want to do. I'm working on that though.

12-I've never been pulled over. I think I would cry though and probably get out of a ticket anyway, right? ;) (See, I can do it online... wink I mean)

13-I've lived in Utah my whole life and never been skiing or snowboarding. I did go snow shoeing a couple years ago and that was really fun. And I went snowmobiling on a date once.

14-The first time I met Anthony I couldn't look at him. I thought he was really good looking and I was embarrassed to look at him.

15-When Anthony asked me to tell him something about myself the first time I met him I said, "I have a dog." That was it. I know, I'm surprised he asked me out after that too.

16-I lived in only one house until I got married.

17-I've never purposely farted in front of Anthony. There have been a couple slips of course (who doesn't, right?) but never on purpose. And one of the times I slipped he laughed so hard that it made me cry.

18-The one thing I always wanted for Christmas as a child but never got was a Snoopy Snow Cone Maker.

19-I think the cartoons from when I was young were way cooler than the crap they put on TV now. Whatever happened to the Smurfs, the original Strawberry Shortcake, Shirt Tales, He-Man, Popeye, Rainbow Brite, Fraggle Rock, etc.

20-I can't believe my mom used to let my sister and me watch shows like Married...with Children, The Golden Girls and such. I didn't get it then but goodness, those are naughty shows for young eyes and ears!

21-I believed in Santa Claus until I was 12.  Actually, I still do just in a different way.  See here.

22-I used to get made fun of for my last name but never understood the jokes until 10th grade health class. How naive can one be?--refer to #21

23-If I could go back and redo high school, things would be a lot different.

24-I've never been organized. I don't know how to be. I'm tellin' you, once I stood in the Extremely Directionally Challenged line in heaven, I couldn't find my way to any of the lines I needed to be in.

25-For the first year at my new high school (Junior year) I knew how to GET to school only by taking Redwood. But I only knew how to get home if I took Bangerter. I couldn't reverse them and had no clue how to do it any other way.  (Refer to #24)

Yes, I am THAT awesome!
